Everyone who Thirsts, Come to the Waters

Isaiah 55

Despite the disobedience of the people of Israel, G-d always gives a light of hope and calls all the thirsty to come to the waters. This call is not only for the people of Israel, G-d is also calling you at this moment. This is a clear example that G-d will be by your side in the most difficult moments, but you must hear His call, as he says in vs. 3.

Vs. 3 “Incline your ear, and come to Me; hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you—the sure mercies of David."

Do not stop listening to the voice of G-d, for in it is the health for our soul, as this verse says, "I will make an everlasting covenant with you", and when G-d says something, He will fulfill it, He is faithful to His word. In the Scriptures, we see that throughout the times, G-d has made magnificent promises to his servants, and one by one He has fulfilled them. In the same manner, there are also promises made for each of us, one of them being that He would not leave us forsaken in this world that is filled with sin and evil. The Lord said, "I will not leave you orphans”, and this has been true throughout time, because in the most difficult times the Church has been able to see G-d’s hand; but for this, you need to seek for the Lord.

Seek the Lord now that there is time, vs. 6.7, do not wait until tomorrow or say, —"I am too young and I want to enjoy life, I will look for him later." Neither think to yourself, "I'm too old and this is no longer for me." Whatever your age, this is the time to seek Him, to call upon Him, have no doubt, He will answer you. But for this, you must forsake your evil ways, as it speaks in vs. 7, the ways of wickedness that only lead to destruction. Turn to the Lord and He will have mercy on you.

No matter what your past has been, He will look at you with loving eyes, He is ample to forgive, and holds not a grudge, He will take you in His arms and you will walk safe with Him. But you must acknowledge His greatness, as it says in vs. 8 and 9. There is a great difference between G-d's thoughts and our own, making the comparison between the earth and heaven, there is no way to measure how G-d's thoughts are bigger than ours. We are very small, and we must accept that, which is something difficult for us to accept because man enjoys power and to feel magnified.

How important it is to acknowledge that there is a Creator and Owner of all things, and that everything was created at the command of His voice! G-d is too big, and we, too small, but he does not leave us forsaken, vs. 9 and 10 "For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud"... How important is water to the earth! Because of the rain fall, we see lush green trees, mountains that come alive because they take advantage of the water that reaches them; thus, the L-d sends His word that comes out of His mouth, which in turn will not return empty, because everything in this world that G-d has created and ordained to execute its purpose, so they have fulfilled. The sun fulfills its mission for which G-d made it, as well as the moon, the stars, the earth, the oceans, everything executes the will of G-d. But what has happened to man? How good it would be that G-d’s word reached your heart that is thirsty after Him, and that it would also prosper in it, doing wonderful things in your life, quenching your thirst, and thus you might feel full of his blessing!

G-d tells you, "Come to the waters that you may have life", take advantage of the rain of blessings that He sends to His children. Why live thirsty in a deserted place if G-d has rivers of living water for His people? Let His Word work in your heart and you will see many fruits and rejoice in the L-d, vs. 12 and 13.

Teaching by Bishop David Higuera

1. Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. 2. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. 3. Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

4. Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people. 5. Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the LORD thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee.

6.Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 7.let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

8. For my thoughts arenot your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

9.For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10.For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

11. so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. 12. For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

13. Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORDfor a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
